For sending your item to us, make sure to follow these steps Posting Repair Items (Send In Service) - RetroSix Wiki.
If your system is not fully functional, make sure to check the Diagnostics option. This will allow us to investigate the problem and provide a cost to fix it (sometimes we can fix it as part of the diagnostics cost).
If extra work or parts are required, we will contact you with the costs before proceeding.
Make sure to read our Terms & Conditions to ensure you understand the repair process. If we already have the upgrades or modifications, you like listed simply select those options. A recap is to replace all electrolytic capacitors in the system. This is good for preventative maintenance before they fail and do more damage to the components or motherboard.
You can choose to keep the custom Atari DC jack at the back, or have it upgraded to a USB-C CleanPower. This allows the console to be powered by any USB-C to C or USB-A to C cable and power brick.
The USB-C power also keeps temperatures down inside the console as the original internal LDO regulator that generates excessive heat is bypassed.
To aid even more with longevity of the console you can opt to have thermal heatsinks applied to all critical components, bringing their operating temperatures down from 60C to 40C in general.
This prolongs the life of the ICs as they age.
The Atari 2600 has 2 boards (other than the Jr models). These boards are connected with a ribbon of wires that can weaken over time and sometimes break connection between the two boards preventing them from working.
While in for service it is good to have this replaced with our brand-new manufactured wire ribbon. Then if any maintenance work is performed later, you won't risk damaging the old wire ribbon when removing the boards from the internal housing.
As an additional service we can deep clean the console similar to car detailing. This includes a full strip down, soap clean, grime removal and polish.
On top of this we apply nano plastic revitalizing coating on and buff up afterwards. This restores the plastic to a really nice factory finish.
NOTE: This restoration won't fix all scratches on the plastics however it will make them less noticeable due to being cleaned and restored.
As the console ages the components can fail. These can be replaced with donor chips but require professional soldering.
Some people opt to have the main ICs put into sockets so they can be removed easily by hand and replaced. This helps with future self-repairability.
The one thing missing from the 2600 was the ability to tell when the console was powered on, or if your wall plug was working. With the Power Dual LED upgrade, you will get a red LED if your power brick is working and the console is receiving power, and a green power LED when the console is turned on. The glow is subtle and not distracting to gameplay even in the dark
The CleanComp is a composite video mod for your Atari 2600. Unlike other composite mods that simply clean-up and re-amplify the already dirty signal, the CleanComp completely reconstructs and makes a new composite video signal directly from the TIA chips digital logic. Matching the composite video IRE specifications perfectly to within 10mV perfectly you will get the best possibly composite signal you can get. For more details on how composite signals work read here, and for information on how we reverse engineered and created the CleanAmp read about it here. The two links are https://www.retrosix.wiki/composite-video-signal for the first one, and https://www.retrosix.wiki/extracting-composite-video-atari-2600 for the second
If you prefer a HDMI connector, we can pass through the clean S-Video output of the CleanComp through an S-Video to HDMI converter and provide your console with a HDMI port instead.
However, if you want absolutely pixel-perfect HDMI, then choose this option. It is much more expensive but will get completely perfect output.

Retro Enthusiast
RetroSix is a family run business led by Luke, who has been in the gaming industry and retail business since 2013, and sold consoles, controllers and even designed our own controllers and consoles.
We repair and upgrade consoles while showing them off on our social channels such as TikTok.
We sell products for restoring your own consoles should you wish to do it yourself, including many of our own hardware we design and manufacture in-house.
Finally, we print directly onto products to create unique one-off designs of things like Game Boys, Game Gears and anything that has a relatively flat surface we can print on. Checkout our Printed Products sections to buy some or design your very own.
We started RetroSix not as a mass market business, instead with the aim of perfection. Recreating moulds of original shells, casting them from quality ABS, redesigning hardware such as power supplies, USB-C, audio and more, to upgrade your consoles to the highest quality available. No cheap junk sold for profit.
Partners
We believe partnering with other likeminded companies is a great way to help each other out and ultimately make products that are better for the end consumer.
Of course, we sell and ship worldwide direct from source if you would like to purchase direct from anywhere in the world.
