Got a Sega Mega Drive you want to have modded or serviced? Then this service is for you.
The service includes basic cleanup and tidy, then any mods you want to have added you can select.
If your system does not work, we offer a diagnostics service (make sure to select it if your console does not work) where we can diagnose the fault and offer you the cost after investigation that it will take to repair.
For sending your item to us, make sure to follow these steps Posting Repair Items (Send In Service) - RetroSix Wiki.
If your system is not fully functional, make sure to check the Diagnostics option. This will allow us to investigate the problem and provide a cost to fix it (sometimes we can fix it as part of the diagnostics cost).
If extra work or parts are required, we will contact you with the costs before proceeding.
Make sure to read our Terms & Conditions to ensure you understand the repair process. The capacitors inside most retro consoles start to leak over time (especially now). Having a recap means replacing all the electrolytic capacitors (the ones with fluid in that can leak) so that they are brand new and can last another 20 years.
The main chips (think of them like CPUs, RAM and Graphics processors) on the older consoles run quite hot, some as hot as 60C. This isn't a major issue as they have survived the test of time and clearly were ok with it. But time changes everything, and as they age these chips are much more susceptible to damage from excess heat now they are older.
Treat them right and get them covered with aluminium heat sinks to keep the heat down and last longer.
The Mega Drive has composite output (the 3 RCA yellow, red and white) connection by default. This is the worst of the outputs.
Upgrade it to CleanRGB if you have a display that accepts SCART RGB. This gives pixel-perfect clean video output.
Optionally, have HDMI output by passing the CleanRGB through an OSSC.
Another major cause of heat inside the system is the old DC jack power input. Not only are the older bricks harder to find now and can trip your electric when they fail, but internally the Mega Drive has to drop the 9-14V input down to 5V using an LDO. This means it dumps an incredible amount of heat into a large heat sink inside the console, adding to that overall overheating environment.
Replace it with a modern USB-C CleanPower input not only to remove the excess heat but also allow you to power the Mega Drive from absolutely any USB-A to C or C to C cable and power brick (heck, even from your phone if it supports returns USB-C charging).
If you fancy a power LED color change you can select any color you like.
If we already have the upgrades or modifications, you like listed simply select those options. If you would like additional work carried out that is not listed, feel free to just contact us and we can give you a price.
We send the item back by the delivery method you specified during checkout.
Any questions or details contact us via Discord.

Retro Enthusiast
RetroSix is a family run business led by Luke, who has been in the gaming industry and retail business since 2013, and sold consoles, controllers and even designed our own controllers and consoles.
We repair and upgrade consoles while showing them off on our social channels such as TikTok.
We sell products for restoring your own consoles should you wish to do it yourself, including many of our own hardware we design and manufacture in-house.
Finally, we print directly onto products to create unique one-off designs of things like Game Boys, Game Gears and anything that has a relatively flat surface we can print on. Checkout our Printed Products sections to buy some or design your very own.
We started RetroSix not as a mass market business, instead with the aim of perfection. Recreating moulds of original shells, casting them from quality ABS, redesigning hardware such as power supplies, USB-C, audio and more, to upgrade your consoles to the highest quality available. No cheap junk sold for profit.

We believe partnering with other likeminded companies is a great way to help each other out and ultimately make products that are better for the end consumer.
Of course, we sell and ship worldwide direct from source if you would like to purchase direct from anywhere in the world.
