The original Mega Drive is firstly cleaned, stripped down and all the internals cleaned, serviced and any issues repaired so that it is a fully operational console.

The console shells are original so expect scuffs and marks from the age. They will not be immaculate. We may make new reproduction shells in the near future.

Power & AV Cables

If you select to have the power and AV cables you will get a 230V input plug and a composite video output cables (or USB-C cable and RGB cables instead if you selected those upgrades).

Do not select this option if you plan to use your own power and AV cables.

Video Output

The Mega Drive has composite output (the 3 RCA yellow, red and white) connection by default. This is the worst of the outputs.

Upgrade it to CleanRGB if you have a display that accepts SCART RGB. This gives pixel-perfect clean video output.

Optionally, have HDMI output by passing the CleanRGB through an OSSC.

Power Input

Another major cause of heat inside the system is the old DC jack power input. Not only are the older bricks harder to find now and can trip your electric when they fail, but internally the Mega Drive has to drop the 9-14V input down to 5V using an LDO. This means it dumps an incredible amount of heat into a large heat sink inside the console, adding to that overall overheating environment.

Replace it with a modern USB-C CleanPower input not only to remove the excess heat but also allow you to power the Mega Drive from absolutely any USB-A to C or C to C cable and power brick (heck, even from your phone if it supports returns USB-C charging).

Controllers

You can't play the console without controllers. Select 1 or 2 originals, or brand-new wireless controllers in the exact style of the originals for that wire-free gameplay.
