We remake old console hardware and parts for the new age
The Game Boy Advance SP (GBA SP), released in February 2003, is an upgraded version of Nintendo's 32-bit Game Boy Advance sixth-generation handheld game console. The "SP" in the name stands for "Special". It was followed by the Nintendo DS (released in November 2004) and the Game Boy Micro (released in September 2005).
The Prestige Editions are fully maxed our consoles using every single upgrade to date.
Hand-restored to it's original condition, with a new shell, buttons, and screen making the perfect gift for a die-hard gamer.
We take an original Game Boy Advance SP and start by taking it apart fully. We clean the PCB, replace any broken or worn components such as the Link connection, volume and power switches, and do a full hardware test to confirm good working order is restored.
Next, we replace the old, used and worn shell with a brand new shell and buttons (not yet RetroSix ABS so quality is not as high as we want, but we will make an ABS shell soon), along with the rubber contacts and buttons to restore that brand new button press feel.
Next the big upgrades. We change the LCD screen for a new IPS backlit screen and upgrade the audio with the CleanAmp, PureSilence and Dehum kits as well as installing a new 1W speaker to give the audio a 400% volume boost, perfect silence when volume is down, and hum and hiss audio noise removed for great clear and loud audio!
The console is powered by a brand new 850Mah lipo battery and charged using a USB cable (GBA-SP to USB cable included with console).
Finally, we replace the plastic screen protector with a modern tempered glass screen protector so your old new console stays newer for longer.
The finishing touch is a sealed product in a hard carry case, perfect as a gift for any retro gamer... or maybe even treat yourself?
RetroSix is a small team of people who have been in the gaming industry and retail business since 2013, and sold consoles, controllers and even designed our own controllers and consoles.
Putting that expertise to good use, we decided to start RetroSix; a small team of people passionate about retro gaming, and restoring original consoles to like-new, adding our own twist and style to them and in general bringing a modern twist to retro.
Experience the nostalgia without the limitations of old and outdated hardware.
So many things these days are mass produced, not designed to last, and make as cheap as possible for as much money as possible. We started RetroSix not as a mass market business, instead with the aim of perfection. Recreating moulds of original shells, casting them from quality ABS, redesigning hardware such as power supplies, USB-C, audio and more, to upgrade your consoles to the highest quality available. No cheap junk sold for profit.
All restoration work, modifications, improvements and so on are done in the UK, in-house by hand and all attention to detail and care is taken for every order. You can be assured that your order has been inspected not only by a real person but someone who knows about and is excited by gaming and retro, and no sub-par product leaves our doors.
In 2020 we partnered with Hand Held Legend in the USA, HIMITSUNOVA in Japan and Perth Retro Gaming in Australia. In 2021 we partnered with RetroReiZ in Germany and The Retro Game Corner in Ireland. We believe partnering with other likeminded companies is a great way to help each other out and ultimately make products that are better for the end consumer. Check them out at
