The Atari Lynx is a hybrid 8/16-bit fourth-generation hand-held game console released by Atari Corporation in September 1989 in North America and 1990 in Europe and Japan. It was the first handheld game console with a color liquid-crystal display.

Powered by a 16 MHz 65C02 8-bit CPU and a custom 16-bit blitter, the Lynx was more advanced than Nintendo's monochrome Game Boy, released two months earlier. It also competed with Sega's Game Gear and NEC's TurboExpress, released the following year.

This built to specification order can be customised to be exactly what you want. Choose the upgrades and features that are right for you without paying for those you will not use.

Base Console

For the base console you can choose the Lynx console only if you intend to run it just on AA batteries. Alternatively, you can have the DC power brick included so you can power it from UK mains.

Original Box

On top of this, if this is a gift or you are a collector you might want to choose the boxed version. The condition of the box varies with stock, but we make sure never to send them with very bad boxes, they are always at least acceptable.

Screen

You can rock the original screen if you want the full nostalgia experience, or you can choose to upgrade to a full modern IPS backlit CleanScreen display. The difference is preference but remember if you choose an original screen, you might have forgotten how hard they can be to see compared to a modern screen.

Finally, we print directly onto products to create unique one-off designs of things like Game Boys, Game Gears and anything that has a relatively flat surface we can print on. Checkout our Printed Products sections to buy some or design your very own.

We started RetroSix not as a mass market business, instead with the aim of perfection. Recreating moulds of original shells, casting them from quality ABS, redesigning hardware such as power supplies, USB-C, audio and more, to upgrade your consoles to the highest quality available. No cheap junk sold for profit.
